The Tennessee River is also a direct route to the Gulf of Mexico through the Tennessee - Tombigbee Waterway System. These waters provide unsurpassed recreation opportunities to visitors. Annual local events include the Horseshoe Riverbend Festival and the Pumpkin Harvest Festival. The Camp Meeting on the Farm is a celebration of bluegrass and gospel music. Other activities in the area feature
     

the Tour de Wayne Bicycle Ride out of the Natchez Trace Parkway through rural Wayne County. Also of interest is the Wayne County History Fair and the Chamber Golf Tournament.
       
The region is noted for its purebred cattle operations and its horse farms, featuring World's Champion Tennessee Walking Horses.
